Lillian S. Berman of Roslindale, formerly of Brookline, died at Hebrew SeniorLife on Sunday, September 14, 2008. She was 93 years old. Born and raised in Hartford, Conn., Mrs. Berman was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris (Levine) Weinstein. The family moved to Boston when Mrs. Berman was in her teens.
She and her late husband Hyman used to run the lunch program at Congregation Kadima-Toras Moshe in Brighton. She later became the Activities Director at the Village Apartments in Brookline.
She is survived by her son Barry and his wife Judith of Sharon and was the mother of the late Nancy Damm. She was the mother-in-law of Arthur Damm of Florida. Mrs. Berman leaves her grandchildren Adam Berman; Emily Berman and Jamie Stein; Joshua Damm and Benjamin Damm. She was the sister of Robert and Jean Winston of Orleans and the late Ruth Lewis.
Graveside services under the direction of Levine Chapels were held on September 15 at the Kopiagorod Cemetery in West Roxbury. Melvin J. Gillette, 87, of Framingham died on Saturday, September 13, 2008. He was husband of Edith (Cohen) Gillette. Mr. Gillette was a production manager in the wholesale meat industry. Beside his wife, he is survived by his daughter Judith Wasserman and her husband Steven of Burlington; his son Robert Gillette and his wife Ellen of Hyde Park; his grandchildren Jonathan and Leah Wasserman; Kevin, Stephanie and Rachel Gillette; Michael and Jacki Desmond; and his great grandchildren Maya, Eli and Isaiah. He was the brother of the late Henry Gillette. Services were held at the Levine Chapel in Brookline on Monday, September 15. Dorothy (Ossman) Gamm of Randolph entered into rest on September 6, 2008 at the age of 96. She was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Louis Gamm.
Born in Somerville, she was raised in Chelsea, lived in Milton and was a resident of Randolph since 1980. Mrs. Gamm was a stenographer for the U.S. government before she was married. She was also a Past President of Congregation Chai Odom Sisterhood, Past President of Maimonides Auxiliary and Past President of Cong. Bnai Jacob Sisterhood. She was also a life member of Hadassah, Chai Odom and Mizrachi.
She is survived by her devoted children, Stephen and Celia Gamm; Marsha and Stuart Razin; and Cheryl and Abe Heitin. Mrs. Gamm was the mother-in-law of the late Sandra Gamm and she was the cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Canton on Monday, September 8, 2008. Interment was at Cong. Chai Odom Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to Hebrew SeniorLife, 1200 Centre Street, Boston, MA 02131.

Eleanor (Gordon) Ross of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Newton died on August 22, 2008.
She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Ross; loving mother of Barbara and Dr. Michael Sheff of Waban, Carol and Dr. Steven Albert of Altamonte Springs, Fla. and Roberta and Gary Leventhal of Roslyn, N.Y.; adored grandmother of Buffy and Laurence Ross, Brian Sheff, Eric and Emily Sheff, Jonathan and Rika Albert, Daniel and Carol Albert, Dr. Matthew Albert, Evan Leventhal, Caryn Leventhal and great-grandmother of Bella, Jacob, Jesse, Tyler, Ruby and Elliot. She was also the dear sister of Lawrence and Gladys Gordon of Bedford, and the late Harold Gordon.
Graveside services, under the direction of Levine Chapels, Brookline were held at the Boylston Lodge Cemetery, West Roxbury August 24. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Congregation Mishkan Tefila, 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467 or Temple Israel, 50 S. Moss Rd., Winter Springs, FL 32708.

Rose (Zaltzberg) Brodie, 92 of Washington D.C., formerly of Beverly and Palm Beach, Fla. died on August 20, 2008.
She was the wife of the late Sidney Brodie. Mrs. Brodie is survived by her daughter Judith Brodie and her husband Mervin Richard of Washington, D.C., her son Dr. Evan Brodie and his wife Paula of Andover, five grandchildren: Jeffrey Brodie and his wife Erika, Jennifer and Rachel Brodie and Michael and Peter Zetlan, one great-grandchild, Sydney Brodie, and a brother, Edward Saltzberg and his wife Doris of Hyannis.
She was the mother of the late Sheila Zetlan and her surviving husband Dr. Howard Zetlan and his wife Myrna and sister of the late Irving Salsberg. Services were held on August 24 at Temple Emanuel in Andover. Burial followed at Temple Emanuel of Andover Cemetery in Lawrence.

Louise (Sulkin)

Louise (Sulkin) Koplow, age 90, of Peabody formerly of Lynn and Swampscott, died on August 12 at the Woodbridge Assisted Living Center in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Aaron Koplow.
Born in Boston, Mrs. Koplow was the daughter of the late Abraham and Etta (Fierstein) Sulkin. She was a graduate of Dorchester High School and attended Forsyth Dental School in Boston. Mrs. Koplow had been employed as a dental hygienist for many years.
A resident of the Lynn and Swampscott area for 50 years, she was the treasurer and a member of the sisterhood of Congregation Ahabat Sholom in Lynn. She was also a life member of the Hadassah in Lynn. Mrs. Koplow loved volunteering, was a member of the ladies auxiliary for the Jewish Rehabilitation Center and a former board member of the Jewish Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by two devoted daughters, Ellen Koplow of Medford and Ann Koplow of Brighton; a cherished grandson, Aaron David Fairbanks of Brighton; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and their families and a large group of friends that she has known for decades. She was also sister of the late Emma Gordon, Elizabeth Rich, Esther Sulkin, Beatrice Plane, Ernest and Louise Sulkin.
Services were held at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel on Aug. 14. Interment followed at Congregation Ahabat Shalom Memorial Park, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Hear Assoc., 10 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
